New Youth Committee set up
On Sunday 15th November the KPS Youth Forum got together again, this time in the same form as the “Gentlemen’s Last Friday of the Month get-together”. In traditional Indian style we came in dribs and drabs allowing all of us time to enjoy the tea/coffee and nibbles that were laid out for us.

After we had a chance to catch up with the latest gossip with friends and family we were given a presentation of the new KPS website. The website was very well received by the KPS Youth as it showed a clear thought for better presentation, ease of use and good communication of current news and KPS activities. Great new features like the activities calendar, integration with Facebook and Twitter and better picture and video galleries make the website much more appealing to visit.

We all gathered to embark on the main topic of discussion, the KPS Youth Committee, its structure and future development. On proposing the idea of setting up a youth committee we voted for the position of President & General Secretary; where Anand Faldu and I were voted as co-Presidents and Shivani Kantaria as General Secretary. We had a lot of other interest from youth members to join the committee with over 25 people wanting to take part and help put forward the youth voice of KPS.

This youth committee will be responsible for 7 areas that were identified in our first youth forum in September. With so many activities and ideas from individuals we were glad to have such participation. If you would like to join the committee and have not already emailed us, please email:
kpsyouth@kpsuk.org . The meeting finished with a short presentation on each of the 7 areas and with a message of thanks to the members of the Community and Social sub-committee for helping us organize this structure (notes will be posted on the website).

Now, it was what we were all waiting for…the Regency Club food and drinks. While the mains were still on there way we started munching on the starters…we had enough food for an army…an army of KPS Youths who have just setup their committee! Whilst the starters were going down a treat people mingled, talked to others that they would have not really met and already started discussing new projects and ideas. Once the main course was served the chatter and discussion dies down to a low murmur but not for long as the good food was put away quickly. To our surprise we even had dessert to round off an evening and good food. We all had a great time and speaking to various individuals and groups it seems that this was a very popular way to meet new people get to know our community…watch this space!

We have emailed all the committee members that volunteered to take part in organizing and setting up the events, so again, if you did miss out just email us so that we can send you further details on the various sub-committees that we will be setting up (these will also be posted on the website). We want to hear your views, and setup a permanent voice for us as well as making some of the great ideas from the first meeting a reality.
