17th Cultural Variety Show 2010
This year we celebrated our Cultural Variety Show on 18th April 2010, and we had over 600 people in the audience, which made it the most successful variety show in recent years! We have also received lots of positive feedback ranging from the show entries to the stage decoration. Many thanks for taking time to share your thoughts and ideas, this will help us make improvements for next time.

The committee would like to thank all of the participants for creating such an entertaining display. With choreography from Neha Patel we managed to produce items such as “Bedano Garbo”-a dandia raas dance (mix), “Padam” dance and “Duma Dum Must Kalander” by our very own Gujarati school which took us back into the streets of Gujarat. “Rangilo Maro” took us to the unspoiled land of Rajasthan-a dance performed by the East London group. Then back to Gujarat with “Uchi Talavadi Ne Paar”, a dandia raas dance item. There were also fantastic items from our younger members- a song item by Aarian Gosal, who performed Alesha Dixon’s “Breathe Slow”, Amish Adodra who moonwalked to Michael Jackson’s “Billie Jean”...and we all remember the Dhol performance played by Ravi Talsania and Rhythm and Base! We have many talented people in our community so I urge all of those members who have not yet shared their skills in dance, song, acting etc to submit an entry for next year’s show.

The Kadwa Patidar samaj were also able to bestow a Lifetime Achievement award to Honey Kalaria. She gave a live interview on stage and shared her tips for success. Honey has accomplished many great things during her career, including her ever-popular dance school which provides a place for young individuals to grow and develop their skills.

We also celebrated the academic achievements of our members. We had 15 new graduates this year, and we wish them all well in their future professions.

I would like to thank our youth committee who provided support to make the variety show a success. I am sure you will agree that Deepesh Makadia and Shivani Ardeshna were brilliant hosts. I would like to express gratitude to Beena Bechra and Seema Talsania for hall decoration, and Saroj Makadia, Naina Ardeshna, Maduben, Suribhai, Jaisukh, Rajubhai and Jayu who all contributed to the final production.

Thank you for reading this article and I look forward to next year’s entries. Dates tbc.
